Reasons to Opt for a Roller Garage Door on Your Property

Blog

Garage doors come in diverse materials and structures. One handy and attractive option is a roller door. Here are some reasons you should consider opting for this style.

Beautiful Colours

These doors blend with a garden environment well as they're available in muted, nature-inspired colours. You could, for example, choose a blue-grey colour that mimics the shades found in slate. Some beiges are reminiscent of sand. Or else choose from green hues that are similar to those found in foliage and leaves. Thus, a metal roller door won't be jarring but can blend with the landscape.

Also, a wide variety of colours will let you coordinate the garage with the facade. As well as considering the garden, notice the roof colour as a potential match. Another possibility may be an accent colour on the facade or the external walls. The driveway paving is also crucial, as it is adjacent. The corrugations give the doors a friendlier and softer look than if they were simply flat metal.

Space Saver

Thus, roller doors help with designing your kerb view. They also help practically because of their economic opening action. Roller doors glide vertically upwards into an overhead bundle. Because they don't tilt outwards, you'll have greater freedom when using the driveway. For example, you can park your car close to the garage before opening it.

This efficient movement will be especially helpful if you have a small driveway on which several cars park. Your garage may also be close to the footpath or street, and a vertically opening door may be better for that reason. Bear in mind, though, that the garage building will need enough overhead room to contain the bundle once it's rolled up.

Freedom in Garage Interior Design

A roller door will also offer freedom in designing your garage's interior because it hangs over the doorway and doesn't take up excessive space inside. Some other styles, such as sectional doors, extend over the ceiling. They thus compel you to locate the lighting in specific spots, and they take away opportunities for overhead storage. Roller doors won't use up the ceiling or side walls, for which you may have other plans.

Strong and Durable

Roller doors are also strong and durable. You can choose from different metal thicknesses, so you can select a sturdier door if you're concerned about security or want to avoid damage in a cyclone area. The metal is encased in protective layers. For example, it might be galvanised with a zinc coating. A powder-coated paint layer also shields the doors from the elements to resist rust and look newer for longer.

Keep these tips in mind when looking for roller doors for your garage.

Garage Doors: Dealing with Faulty Springs

When my garage door stopped working, I didn't have the first idea of what the problem might be. I contacted a local garage door repair service and they said they would send a contractor out to examine the door. Once the contractor had taken a look, he reported that the springs within the door mechanism were broken. He then got to work repairing the problem. Within an hour or two, my garage door was operational again. The contractor explained that he thought I had been opening the door incorrectly and placing too much strain on the springs. He gave me lots of useful tips which will help to avoid this problem in the future.
