Why Should You Choose the Latest Type of Sectional Garage Door?

Blog

When you're in the market to replace your garage doors, you will be looking out for convenience but will also have an eye on safety and durability. So, what factors do you need to take into account as you look at options?

Choose Sectional

Most large, two-car garages would benefit from the fitment of sectional doors, aka "up and over." They are very easy to manoeuvre and can be fully automated, so you don't need to get out of your car when the weather is inclement.

Excellent Design

Sectional doors are made from identical, horizontal panels that are stitched together using an innovative design. The entire door will run on tracks vertically and then horizontally so that the open door rests across the garage ceiling.

Extra Features

This type of door is not innovative and has been around for generations. However, there have certainly been some advances in the materials used and also the "add-on" features.

Durability and Strength

Most sectional garage doors are now made from steel, which gives them the strength and durability you should expect. In addition, they are usually tested to withstand some of the fiercest storms that the Australian climate can conjure up and should also perform well in cyclone-affected regions.

Weather Resistant

To ensure that these doors stay in place when the wind blows, some manufacturers have added a clever solution made from guides and clips to provide additional strength. Due to this strength, you may not need to add any special storm bracing if you receive a troubling forecast. So, you can trust the door to open or close to help you prepare for any arriving storm and won't need to worry about its integrity.

Accessibility and Security

Ask your equipment supplier about opening devices and control kits as you look through your options. Today, it's possible to open or close your garage from any remote location, so long as you have smartphone access. Also, if you intend to spend some time away and are worried about the integrity of your garage door, check out the latest automatic locking mechanisms. The system will engage a heavy-duty bolt on the rear when you send a message to the control centre through your smartphone or locally operated device. This will make your garage door an integral part of your security system and give you that additional peace of mind.

Choose Your Solution

As you can see, there are some excellent solutions available today. So, as you choose your sectional door, look closely at the additional features.

Garage Doors: Dealing with Faulty Springs

When my garage door stopped working, I didn't have the first idea of what the problem might be. I contacted a local garage door repair service and they said they would send a contractor out to examine the door. Once the contractor had taken a look, he reported that the springs within the door mechanism were broken. He then got to work repairing the problem. Within an hour or two, my garage door was operational again. The contractor explained that he thought I had been opening the door incorrectly and placing too much strain on the springs. He gave me lots of useful tips which will help to avoid this problem in the future.
